Comic Books

A place to discuss comic books of all types, from old to new, Big 2 to indie, and everything in between.

Floppies, graphic novels, compilations, omnibusses (omnibusi?) are all fair game.

There is only one rule:*

Comic Books is a no judgement zone.

You can talk all you want about how Rob Liefeld is trash, Bob Kane is an asshole, or Frank Miller and Dave Sim’s politics have made them toxic, that’s all good.

If, however, another user is LEGITIMATELY a fan of something you don’t like, that does NOT make them a lesser person. Attack the art for being bad, not the person for being a fan of bad art.

* I lied. There are TWO rules... No piracy. Cover shots? That's good. Interior pages, in moderation? Sure. Full books? Links to pirate sites? That's how we get things shut down. :(

I'm not saying it's been a problem, because it hasn't been.

I have been reading it and it is indeed quite good. The setting in which it takes place is nice as well. Recommended!

Yes. I have really been enjoying it. It’s the most I have enjoyed a Spider-Man comic since the JMS run from early 2000s.

How is Marvel gonna fuck up Peter Parker this time?? Is this finally the timeline where he actually gets the happiness he deserves?

He's married to MJ, they have two kids. He seems much happier than usual

That's a lot of people to fit in a fridge at once.

Idk if you've read it, but I recently finished The Refrigerator Monologes and it was absolutely amazing. Has a great piece about Gwen Stacy.

Uncle Ben and J. Jonah Jameson have started an indie newspaper to look into this Green Menace attacking Oscorp interests so... yeah, probably will not end well...

What is the whole premise of this new Ultimate? Like before, an alternate take on the franchise in a self-contained universe?

Just read the first comic, seems to be a world were all heroes were denied their origin story by an underground organisation, and are now given a shot at the lives they should have had.

Been really liking the new take on Uncle Ben and J. Jonah Jameson.

Honestly I haven't read SM since they ended the first run of Superior. I think I remember they pulled 2099 into 616 canon, I preferred it to be independent.

I'm assuming this will get reverted back to the status quo within 2 years, which is normally what happens when a new direction is explored.

If anyone has any good recommended SM story arcs from the last decade I'll be happy to check them out.
