The Twins trilogy was so great. I had the audiobooks as a young teen and I've carried those characters names into many games over the years.

Fantastic characters, I only read the Chronicles way back in the day but always wanted to know what happened after the starting trilogy and never got around to it. The dynamic between the brothers was always fascinating, does the Twins trilogy play out satisfyingly enough to recommend?
You mean Legends? I honestly wasn't a big fan, and neither was my brother. My main problem wasn't even Raistlin but Caramon and all the bad decisions he makes. That said, there's already someone in the comments that did like the trilogy, so you could give the first book a try and form your own opinion. It's not a very long book after all
Ah Legends, that is it! I loved Chronicles so much that I am a bit worried about souring the first trilogy with a disappointing second trilogy. Still, I'll take your advice and probably check out the first Legends book at some point just to satisfy the curiosity of it all.
Runes on the sleeves is a nice touch
Also a ton of foreshadowing for this book/character.
I felt like there was so much to this character, but some of the details are muddled for me. I remember the hourglass eyes that cursed him to see the effect of time on everything, so that he would look at people and see them slowly decaying with every second that they aged, but I don't remember what he got in exchange for being cursed with those eyes. I also remember he wears the red robes of neutrality but don't remember if he was assigned them for failing certain trials regarding jealousy and greed or if that was something else.
It's been a decade or three since I read dragonlance but Raistlin was my favorite of the group.
His outcome from his test left him fucked yea... And he seemingly got the raw end of the deal... Except for somehow binding his soul to Fistandantulus making him essentially harnessing the power of one of the strongest mages of all time or something...
So yeah can only see death and decay but gained immense power and he craved that so no decision for him
His test. Yeah his twin was the brawn and after nearly dying in his trails the masters made it appear as if his strong swordsman brother was also magical - and saved the day via magic - forcing him into a rage and killing the image of his brother. So yea a bit of jealousy lol
Adult me would probably laugh at the characters now, but Raistlin was easily the most flushed out character that wasn't bland as all get out - looking at you Tannins Half Elven
I listened to the audio book recently to see if it held up. I found myself appreciating characters I did not originally and disliking Tanis for different reasons than I disliked him originally.
