While I'm all for electric replacing fossil fuels when it makes sense, this is just smugness. Lithium batteries are objectively just as dangerous to keep inside as a sealed tank of gas. People are rightfully scared of what happens when vape batteries and broken batteries rupture, it's foolish to pretend that EV batteries don't face some of the same risks. EV vs. ICE fanboyism isn't going to get anyone switching, the practical advantages of EVs will.

It was a joke about all the press the Bolt got. Im well aware of the risks of lithium ion batteries.
I got calls from concerned friends, and stopped by people on the road over the Bolt fire risk. I drive a Volt.....
And yet, most of the headlines about car fires are about EVs.
Gotta get the clicks somehow.
Not really. Fully mechanical belt/chain driven oil pumps have been around for decades and are extremely reliable. This is just shitty and needless over-engineering.
Lithium batteries are way, way more dangerous and volatile.
Electric oil pumps are not over engineering. They are intended to improve the efficiency of gas engines. They are a desperate attempt to compete with EVs which have less fires than gas vehicles already.
