I've found that most people that "hate" her don't actually hate her, they've jumped on the bandwagon. The 2 big ones I see are:

  1. People love to hate a celebrity, and with Taylor they always said she was "too good". Early 2010s this happened all the time.

the big one that I see 2) There's some masculinity crap where only girly girls like Taylor Swift - if you like her at all you are immediately typecast in some people's eyes, or in my case there was a huge "who am I" moment where it started challenging all the things I was taught. If I like Taylor Swift, does that mean that I'm ____ and ____ too? Took a long time to work through that. Now I don't care, I went to Eras and had a blast!

I am a man and i like her stuff. If anyone has a problem with that then fuck 'em

Read something a while ago that went something like a boy tells another man "Real men don't do listen to Taylor|drive small cars|whatever else they feel like today", and the other man says "A real man doesn't care."

I'm simplifying a lot, not telling it well, but yes, real men don't give two shits about what is manly or not.

Same here dude. I liked her old songs years ago but never understood the hype. Then my wife helped introduce me more to her, we went to Eras and had a blast, and now I’ve become a Swiftie.

When I was young I would’ve cared about that kind of stuff, especially because toxic masculinity is ever present (and I was conditioned to respond to it and “course correct” so I wouldn’t get shunned, etc. ). Now as an older man, I don’t give a shit anymore. I like what I like, and I really like Taylor Swift.

Yep, totally know what you mean. I went to her "Reputation" concert at the Vikings stafium in Minneapolis and still have fond memories of it. I think its going to be a good memory for life. I had so so so much fun. I went to Ariana Grande's "Dangerous Woman" tour too and while it was fun the Reputation concert sticks out more to me.

It was so liberating when I, as a man, realized I don't give a shit what other people think about me and allowed myself to listen to her music

She’s probably the only celebrity for whom I would grieve if something happened to her. I’ve always been very anti-celebrity idolizing, but I’ve become such a fan of her music that I would certainly miss it in my life

I grieved Alan Rickman bc I grew up on Harry Potter but yeah, I agree with you.
