I’ve yet to see Trump apologize for literally any of the Queen’s English that he has butchered on an almost daily basis. Getting worked up over a mispronounced name is one of the weirdest things that Conservatives have had, given that they took “Let’s Go Brandon” and turned it into a dumb “in-joke” way of saying “Fuck Biden”. Also weird given how the “fuck your feelings” cult purposely dead-names people who are transitioning to suddenly start whining about getting people’s names right.

Classic progressive whataboutism

Relevance?

Relevance?

I believe they're calling into question the standards that Republican supporters hold politicians to. If these statements by Biden are deplorable than why aren't similar statements by Republican politicians treated the same way? They're not saying Trump says bad things too, which would be irrelevant, they're saying Trump said similar things, so shouldn't those things be bad?

If one argues a politician must always pronounce someone's name right, shouldn't one dislike Trump making up names for everyone?

The mother is the one who was upset. It’s her kid. She’s going to take everything as a slight. Of course politicians are going to weaponize that but the mother isn’t a politician As a side note that’s why we end up with politicians like Biden since any sane person wouldn’t want the constant scrutiny.

It mostly only counts as a whataboutism if the entity being compared to is not relevant in the conversation, but as the election moves closer to a Biden-Trump situation, I think the comparisons to Trump (as opposed to criticisms of Biden on their own) can no longer be said to be irrelevant.

Laws restricting immigration are unethical, unjust, and unconscionable. Illegal immigrants are heroes who deserve our respect.

No /s. America is supposed to be the land of the free, the land of opportunity. What happened to the American dream? Anti-immigration politicians killed it. There is not a single patriot in the world who opposes free immigration.

You know I don’t agree with you but that is a solid answer. The concept of controlled immigration is a fairly new concept. So take the upvote for having a real discussion.

When you oppose immigration from an economic standpoint, you're saying "my country isn't strong enough to hold all these refugees. I'm not going to share because I'm too weak." You think the Roman Empire felt that way? No, they were conquering countries left and right and turning foreigners culturally and economically into Romans. Because they believed Rome was strong. Politicians who oppose immigration are weak people who believe their country is weak. They are not patriots. The politicians saying "come on in, we have plenty to share, we're the best because we value and practice kindness", they're patriots.

I think immigration is key to success to a country and controlling immigrations helps define the country.

That said, I thing you put up a solid thesis as to why open immigration is showing the strength of your country.
