I don't understand why the NDP don't do better in elections. It astonishes me that Canadians won't vote for the only party with any real will to address the problems that affect them daily. Do people really think the Conservatives have the best interests of the common people at heart?

I looked at the YouTube channels for each party a couple of weeks back. The Conservatives had like six videos released in the previous ten days. The NDP had around five in the previous three months.

I'm coming to believe that the NDP doesn't get votes because they don't get their story out. They drop the occasional press release and sound bite, but that's about it. Meanwhile the Cons do a full court press on every social media platform constantly.

Tbh a lot of the disparagement the NDP faces comes from the one time Ontario elected an NDP premier (Bob Rae, in 1990).

Too many people still believe utter nonsense and outright lies about Rae's tenure, like he caused the 1990's recession (it began 7 months before Rae's election).

Here's a good article on the stories that people like Drug Fraud still toss around like fact.

A great way for the NDP to combat that nonsense would be to release videos on YouTube.

And Mastodon! :)

The one social media network the amplified left-wing radicalism--Twitter--got bought and tanked by a billionaire.

I can barely recall the last time I saw real left-wing content on Youtube, and the others (Facebook, Reddit) are fine with overt Naziism, but say "eat the rich and pass the ketchup!" and you're looking at suspension.

There are some decent left-wing channels on YouTube, but you won't see recommendations for them unless you have a history of watching stuff like that. Google knows about my political leanings because they watch everything I do, so I see left-wing content in my recommendations. By default though they are far more likely to recommend right-wing rubbish.

For me personally, I do not see them having much of a backbone. It appears that their insecurities lead them to waver when conviction is called for.
