I just know to delete the second bracket and not the first one at this point. Works in every IDE I have tried.

Yes, but you have been given a gift of 1 bracket by the IDE gods! They wouldn't just GIVE you a bracket if you weren't supposed to use it! Such a waste of brackets. I mean, it's not like a semicolon, let's not get greedy, but still...
