Hiya peeps, my mouse mat has served its time, and it is time for a new one. Until now, I've had one of these huge ones, that cover half the desk. But I think this time I'm gonna aim for a normal-sized one. I'd also like to avoid cheap Chinese wares or anything low-quality. Anyone got any nice recommendations for mousepads? Do you have soft ones or hard ones? wink Are there any brands out there that stand out among the plethora of choice in terms of quality?

The most important aspect of it for me is the "feel good" factor.

edit: Bonus points if there are any Linux-oriented ones, as in merch. And minus points for amazon links :>

Lemmy know :)

Not since laser mice became a thing. Also trackballs.

But the sound of the mouse against the desk is usually awful imo, that's the primary reason for a mouse pad for me almost.

Hard silicone feet make it glide silently. You have to be kind of picky, an $8 Walmart mouse is going to sound as terrible as you'd expect it to.

If the mouse stops sliding smoothly you can look for "teflon mouse skates" and find some replacements for a couple of dollars.

Without a mousepad, the laser on my mouse leaves marks on my desk. It's a cheap desk, but still.
