A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The best ones are thoughts that many people can relate to and they find something funny or interesting in regular stuff.

"Element" was originally called "Riot," which was an even better name than "Discord." But, then, governments started adopting Matrix and someone realized "Riot" wasn't corporate-friendly ¯\(ツ)/¯

Yup. It's used by the German Bundeswehr, and by France's DINUM.

Here's a Wired article from a few years ago about its adoption.
