due to the offending user being banned from the federating instance before the post was removed? example

edit: i recognize this is not a local issue and may be more of a lemmy problem. wondering if anyone has any experience or thoughts cuz its weird to have awful stuff hosted on one instance even though it was banworthy elsewhere.

edit 3: removed edit 2.

I do try to leave dealing with reports to community mods most of the time. Since the post was on lemmy.world - and they're quite good with moderation - I've not actioned it. Having said that, since it's obviously been left untouched (or federation is simply broken on their end, again), I have now removed it locally.

On top of that, what @[email protected] said is a very gentle expression of current state of affairs. Lemmy, as software, is actually ridiculously bad. Chats on matrix are constantly full of the most random issues. I have had to pretty much double provision the whole thing just to account for the internal crashes and make them less visible to the people using this instance.

understood! thank you for your work.

is posting here an OK enough way to report uber-problematic crossover of broken federation and hate speech?

obviously it’s just happened once as far as i am aware, but just trying not to annoy you as admin while also alerting you to stuff you may not want to host.

Honestly, local (as in home instance users') reports are probably the only thing that has been working well. I also get an email notification when a report is created. That doesn't mean I can immediately jump onto things, but I will also try to be more proactive. It's a delicate line to walk removing content as an admin - but this nazi shit really should've been removed ASAP.
