As someone from a deep red state, thanks for the advice. I didn’t realize it was so easy to get around gerrymandering, voter suppression, and the like. I’m glad you showed me the light!
I was removed from the voter rolls in Texas 5 times and still managed to vote. Cry to somebody else. It's just another form of voter suppression that I was sick of listening to while working to get the people of Texas to vote.
And you don’t think that suppression has anything to do with why Republican fascists win? Telling us to vote harder… smh.
Yes, it does. But I know what it takes to get it done, and I know the voting aged people in Texas don't care to get off their asses to do what is necessary.
You think crying nothing can be done about it was going to make it better? And the reality is most Texans welcome the likes of Cruz and Abott.
Every time somebody says go vote, some lazy loser cries about how hard it is, another form of voter suppression.
No, I’m complaining about assholes who don’t live in red states blaming the victims of republican governance. There has been a systematic disenfranchisement of vast swaths of the American electorate. Telling the victims of that that we just need to vote harder is asinine.
What we need is solidarity from outside, not sniveling bullshit advice.
Edit: also, fuck off. I live maybe the hardest life of anyone I know. Taking care of my extremely ill, bed bound wife for ten years. I still make it to every fucking election and my wife still votes, even though it causes her unbelievable pain. But even with all our motivation I can’t throw off the yoke of my oppressor because voting in a rigged system is fucked. It is so fucking infuriating to listen to people like you condescend.

It is baffling to me how someone can say people who live in a state are to blame for their situation when at least 40% of voters vote against fascists. It is like seeing 60 cents on the table and insisting it is a dollar.

Don't bother, he'll just take offense at you trying. If you look at the other comments, I and several others tried to point out how hypocritical he's being victim-blaming the people doing the things he says they're lazy for not doing when he himself gave up, and he just became more and more belligerent. Here, he made fun of a guy's wife who has disabling chronic pain and accused him of "voter suppression" because of it. In another comment, he made fun of women no longer having access to abortion. He's not looking to fix things, just a target so he can make himself feel better.
He came in here to hate Texans and nothing you or I say will change his heart. You can't fix that any more than you can compromise with fascists.
And how many non- republican leaders did you manage to get elected? Clearly you un-purging yourself did not result in not "electing a state government run by a criminal mafia"

I now live with non Republican leadership, so clearly I was capable of taking action to find governance worth supporting. You have to assume so much to justify your laziness.
I fought for new leadership in Texas and had these same discussions with people unwilling to get off their asses and vote then as I am having with you now. I drove people to get registered to vote and volunteered for political campaigns. I informed people when I was removed from the voter rolls and asked them to check their status.
In the end, it was always lazy people unwilling to stand up for themselves.
