I didn't say it was an either or situation, that happened entirely in your head.
China have a long history of coercing countries via trade restrictions, most notably in Australia recently.
What do you mean by coercing via trade restrictions? Can you give an example?
Not hard to find for yourself, but there you go.
Wait.
Are you saying imposing sanctions is evil? That we should not trade with any nation that imposes sanctions?
I'm genuinely interested in how you reached that conclusion.
the link you sent me about how evil china is said they imposed sanctions so obviously you think any nation which imposes sanctions is evil and we should stop trading with them.
Fascinating.
it is indeed fascinating when people don't read the articles they send you as links.
You have a very unique way of viewing the world.
I don't think actually reading the article somebody sends you is very unique. Why do you think it is?
Why do you assume I hadn't read the article? Or that the information therein was news to me?
The fact that the lesson you took from that was "all sanctions are evil" is... Interesting logic.
No I assumed you read it but after your replies it became clear that you hadn't read it.
You said we should stop trading with China because of reasons. I asked for those reasons and you linked to the article. The article said they placed sanctions. Therefore it's logical to assume you want to stop trading with any country that imposes sanctions.
Or maybe I should just assume that your reasons have nothing to do with economic issues or sanctions or whatever. Maybe I should assume it comes from a place of ignorance and bigotry. This far into the conversation that seems like a more likely reason you want to trade with other nations that impose sanctions but want to stop trading with china because it imposes sanctions.
Fascinating. Do you know how many countries have imposed sanctions on some other country?
A lot.
I suppose you think we should stop trading with all of them.
I don't know, do I?
This has been a fascinating exchange, but not quite the look into your mind I had hoped for.
Now, tell me, do you think the reasons for China enacting sanctions are reasonable ones?
What an odd statement to make. I guess it bothers you to be confronted by your own shortcomings.
Yes of course they are reasonable. Every country enacts sanctions in order to further their own aims and to gain an advantage in geopolitics and economics. They did it for the same reason we sanction countries. To get what we want, to win, to make money.
Of course some countries like the USA also impose sanctions because they are sadistic and enjoy watching their enemies suffer. For example the sanctions in Iraq were the cause of 250,000 deaths of civilians and the then secretary of state said that it was perfectly just and moral.
Sanctions in response to an investigation into the origins and spread of Covid are, in your mind, no less valid than, for example, sanctioning Russia over their invasion of Ukraine?
Yes the reason is the same. Hurt your enemies, benefit yourself. That's geopolitics. That's the same reason we sanction other countries. We want to hurt them and we want to benefit ourselves.
BTW the sanctions on Iraq were because some Saudis flew into a building in NY.
You gonna finish that sentence?
