Over the past decade, we’ve seen a massive rise in live-service games with huge AAA budgets that close after failing to find an audience. Yeah. The movement is what I've seen unanimously praised by people that like the game. I dunno, it's been several years and several major patches/expansions since I've tried the game. Maybe I'll give it another shot eventually. It's F2P, so might as well try it every once in a while to see if it clicks.
