Highly recommend picking up programming.

  1. Many communities are very welcoming.

  2. Worse case scenario, you end up loving programming and making it in a career and making a lot of money.

Best case scenario, you contribute to open source.

  1. There's lots of sources out there to get started. Best part, lots of online communities too.
