It's the trafficking that concerns me
Edit: weird down votes. I'm opposing sex trafficking, this is one of many websites that facilitated sex trafficking, why is that controversial?
Then it seems that driving it to the black market is counterproductive if you want oversight.
Especially when Backpage was notably much more cooperative than most other sites, even proactive in some cases.
It's certainly a challenging problem
The trafficking he didn't have any part in and wasn't charged with?
Yeah. Sex trafficking is a complicated problem. Back Page had a lot of sex trafficking going on, but sex industries always will. I don't think it's gotten any better after targeting this particular website, but it was certainly an easy and high profile location to parade future victims. To be honest, I don't know what the solution is, or is there even is one.
I can go on Craigslist right now. This was a morality prosecution, not one based on legality. If I was a juror, just the fact that it was the third trial would cause me to vote not guilty.
He didn't traffick anyone. And those who did will not be stopped by this trial
I never suggested he did
