I'm confused.. Was the payload some sort of giga bomb or did the FPV hit the fuel, ammo storage? Like that just straight exploded with zero foreplay.
The ammo storage on Russian tanks is a ring around the inside of the turret
This creates a huge vulnerability where all you need is a shaped charge to punch a hole into there and you can have the explosive firepower of whatever rounds are still inside the tank.
Even as a complete military/strategic layperson, I’m looking at that image and going, “oh, that can’t be good. What moron thought up that design??”
If an inexperienced civvie can instantly recognize a doozy of a flaw, it’s a stinker to be sure.
Now, if the turret was completely isolated from the main body of the tank, such that the crew were completely protected in the event of an ammo breach, then fine. But I’m seeing a massive hole inside of the turret ring in OP’s video. With modern tech, you would think that having a completely detachable turret could actually be a thing, such that it could be isolated from the main tank with enough armor to keep the crew safe.
