Didn’t the DS re-release have multiplayer? I remember playing as Yoshi but I’m not positive if it was different gameplay or just different graphics.

Not in the main game, but there was a battle mode I think. I know you could have multiple people running around some small island.

I don’t think it had multiplayer but it did have different playable characters (with Yoshi — not Mario — being the default).

it had a ds download play multiplayer with small pvp minigames iirc
