What are the pros and cons of modifying a Nintendo Switch? (lemmy.world)

Just found out the Switch I got a while back is a V1 model, meaning that it's one of the Switches that's able to be modified. I'm thinking of modifying it, but I'd like to know the upsides and issues first.

"At risk of getting banned" ah yes, from the subscription based service that I wouldn't pay for out of principle

I think you lose access to all digital items purchased on the eshop when banned. So it can affect users regardless of if they have the subscription or not. It is quite serious.
