Maybe related to dynamic scaling on their servers? Not sure how typical a large drop-off in traffic is to a site as big as reddit.
How would a drop in traffic bring a site down? That doesn‘t make any sense.
Could have been too aggressive in auto-scaling down?
Okay…i guess that could make sense. Maybe they scaled down agressively and then all the media attention generated a lot more traffic than anticipated.
Yeah there could be some large fluctuations up and down. Not my area of expertise though.
