Data Hoarder

We are digital librarians. Among us are represented the various reasons to keep data -- legal requirements, competitive requirements, uncertainty of permanence of cloud services, distaste for transmitting your data externally (e.g. government or corporate espionage), cultural and familial archivists, internet collapse preppers, and people who do it themselves so they're sure it's done right. Everyone has their reasons for curating the data they have decided to keep (either forever or For A Damn Long Time (tm) ). Along the way we have sought out like-minded individuals to exchange strategies, war stories, and cautionary tales of failures.

Currently I am using a USB-stick to watch movies on my TV. That is I am manually adding a movie to the USB-stick and plugging it into the TV. And it works, but I would prefer to skip a step here.

I am looking for a simple network harddisk I can permanently plug into the TV via USB, but also to connect the drive to my network, to make it easier to add movies and shows.

I am not looking for a modern NAS solution with hard disk(s) you have to add manually. I want something like WD My Cloud that is hopefully just plug and play.

Any recommendations? I hear questionable things about WD hence why I asking here.

(Addendum: I currently have a working Stremio + Torrentio + RD setup and I have previously had a Plex with Sonarr + Radarr setup. I still prefer my own way the more manual approach.)
