Black on white is better for reflected light, white on black is better for direct light.

So best go with an ereader that can do both. They're honestly fantastic for anyone who likes to read a lot.

Yeah, much easier on the eyes provided it's an e-paper display; the only way I'm aware of to get reflected light on a digital display.

An LCD display can work with reflected light although they're most commonly found with backlighting

I think most ereaders are e-paper, though I've seen one marketed as an "ereader" with an LCD. It was just a stripped down tablet.
