We are digital librarians. Among us are represented the various reasons to keep data -- legal requirements, competitive requirements, uncertainty of permanence of cloud services, distaste for transmitting your data externally (e.g. government or corporate espionage), cultural and familial archivists, internet collapse preppers, and people who do it themselves so they're sure it's done right. Everyone has their reasons for curating the data they have decided to keep (either forever or For A Damn Long Time (tm) ). Along the way we have sought out like-minded individuals to exchange strategies, war stories, and cautionary tales of failures.

Get the "Keepa" browser add-on / extension or cell app for Amazon item price tracking. It'll show price history right there on the item page, & you can also setup your own price tracking & notifications. A decent alternative is "The Camelizer" aka "CamelCamelCamel," although I prefer Keepa. The best $/TB I've seen for a new HDD is the 22TB WD Red Pro. I bought 2 not that long ago when they briefly went on sale. Keepa will show the price on the graph & I think in statistics, or something similarly named.
