This is a repost as this community got deleted by the original owner, I have decided to revive it

This is my server which I run most of my Shota Services as well as some personal projects. The server is a dedicated server rented from Privex.

Services it runs:

  • Public Akkoma instance
  • Public SearxNG instance
  • Public Blog
  • Private Jellyfin server
  • Private Navidrome server
  • Media Library Management tools (Sonarr, Radarr, Lidarr, Qbittorrent, Prowlarr)
  • Public IPFS Gateway

I also have a few other smaller VPS servers which handle the following

  • Public Send Instance
  • Public Uptime Tracker (Statping)
  • Burggit VPS
  • Private use DNS Server

All services also act as IPFS Nodes.

is it possible/recommended to try and get hardware for this stuff if i live on rent? prolly not, i dont wanna be moving around every one or two years with a bunch o computer stuff, especially since then i'd have to consider online backups

For me, all my servers are hosted with Privex so, none of the hardware is actually in my apartment. I have an article which compares some decent providers if you're interested: https://crippled.media/free-speech-vps-providers-put-to-the-test

Ohhhh most cheap ones have no ipv4, I bet that's why that Hive dude refused to let me work for him until I had a router with ipv6 but i never did until it was too late lol.

Oh shoot, i'm almost sure that's what the peeps on Steem and Hive used to host their witness nodes. I may have done a job on a VPS on Privex if i remember correctly which i definitely don't cuz i'm dumb. (My entire life was funded by Steem/Hive for a couple of years)

I saw your article! But it is SO long (and wide o.o). I am a weak-minded individual with no tolerance for long articles. I feed anything over a certain length to chatgpt but this is too long to do that too. It's more of a limitation than a choice, I didn't even graduate university cuz I couldn't stand reading the books I needed for the final dissertation. (Trying some ADHD meds rn but they don't work & they ruin my entire sleep schedule and my health so I'm stopping today.)

Privex has some presetup HIVE witness nodes for sale, so I wouldn't be surprised if they were the ones you were talking about.

As for the article, there's a neat table at the beginning which gives a good general idea of the providers and their policies.

However, here's a super TL;DR version: Privex, Kyun, BuyVM, NiceVPS are the best ones.

Stay far away from: FlokiNET and Njalla

i got a server recently with ehh uhhh fanatic, cloud fanatic, $2.5/m quarterly, lemme check, next due date is aug 2, i could potentially switch to privex which has a $1 one, i only use it for one telegram bot anyway, wonder if i can do tg api calls with ipv6, i have zero idea, would have to test.

If you do decide to go with Privex you can use the code: Burggit for a recurring 5% discount.

However, be Aware that Privex only allows payments in Cryptocurrency or Bank Transfer

All my savings are in crypto anyway, paying with card actually costs me more cuz i need to sell savings at a slight loss (in fees, exchange rate differences and time spent)
