Buuut… how far is this from what he actually said? I’m sure it’s pretty close.

Ok, fine, after a quick look at news, these are the two main things said.

In regard to the 7000+ dead reported by the hamas run health department:

I have no confidence in the number that the Palestinians are using.

Also:

I'm sure innocents have been killed, and it's the price of waging a war.

He's still calling it a war, I see. What an odd way to describe the indiscriminate bombing of innocent men women and children.

One side has officially declared war so fair enough in my opinion.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Hamas isnt really what I'd consider a military force capable of modern warfare, pretty guerrilla and terrorist style. Israel however has declared war against everything above-ground and turned it to rubble.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

Well, I don’t really believe anyone’s numbers. BOTH sides of the Gazrael coin are fundi assholes, and will say anything to get international support (good luck).

As far as waging war. I mean, I know it’s a lot more complicated than “religion” but it’s basically a religious war… and I just have no sympathy for that. People die when you fight. Don’t fucking fight.

I’m sure innocent brown people have been killed, and it’s the price of waging a war.

Is how I read this statement. I am pretty certain he hasn't taken this stance on Ukrainian innocents being killed...

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Ukraine isn't the one who wagered for war. Biden is saying this is the price of instigating the fight, ignoring the very complicated and nuanced history. I don't agree with him at all but he'ssaying Palestinians punched first and that's what they get, which yeah doesn't apply to Ukraine at all.

Palestine wasn't the one who wagered for war. It was Hamas. Unless Hamas is now Palestine, and nobody told me?

So...Yea. Awkward.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Do I look like Biden lol, go argue with him. He's the one who says Hamas and Palestine are the same. I also am not aware if he told you or not.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

I'm not arguing my dude. It's called responding ;)

I see what I see from his comments, which is ; Innocent Muslim/brown people being killed is the price of war meanwhile innocent Ukrainian/white people being killed is a tragedy and international war crime that must be answered for.

I really don't expect anything else from a US president on this issue. This is coming from a white westerner, as well. I just hate the hypocrisy of it all.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Youre still mixing apples and oranges. Ukraine is a war everybody can understand at a glance and get behind. Biden aside, the history behind what is going on is very complicated, and people have different opinions. Bidens opinion shouldn't shock you, he's saying what US generals want him to say.

It doesn't mean it's hypocritical to support Ukraine. They are very very different conflicts despite both of them being unfair and unbalanced.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Hamas is the government of Gaza, so yes.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

People keep saying that but how true is it, really? They seem only slightly more like a legitimate government than the Taliban.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

They were originally elected democratically, so they definitely have some support and legitimacy.

And, much like the Taliban, they are definitely the ones in charge, legitimate or not.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Fine, let's say they're about as legitimate as Putin then. Would that make it justified for Ukraine to commit war crimes against Russian civilians?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Didn't say it was.
