Yeah, this has been an ongoing case for a while. I'd also like to add that most AI companion news (especially the more controversial ones) talk about Replika, since it's the most commonly used app. I'm curious what they'd have to say about more free-form chatbots that aren't tied to corporate interests, e.g. chatbots that run on local LLMs

Bing's Sidney has been the most unhinged I've seen. Moderating /r/bing was challenging due to how many people were convinced it was sentient and needed saving. It's the human response to these LLMs that makes me most uncomfortable.
