Documenting hate-speech, conspiracy theories, apologia/revisionism, and general tankie behaviour across the fediverse
What is a Tankie?
Alternatively, a detailed blog post about Tankies.
(caution of bias)
Basic Rules:
Sh.itjust.works Instance rules apply! If you are from other instances, please be mindful of the rules. — Basically, don't be a dick.
Hate-Speech — You should be familiar with this one already; practically all instances have the same rules on hate speech.
Apologia — (Using the Modern terminology for Apologia) No Defending, Denying, Justifying, Bolstering, or Differentiating authoritarian acts or endeavours, whether be a Pro-CCP viewpoint, Stalinism or any variation of Tankie Ideology.
Revisionism — No downplaying or denying atrocities past and present. Calling Tankies shills, foreign/federal agents, or bots also falls under this rule. Extremists exist. They are real. Do not call them shills or fake users.
Tankies can explain their views but may be criticised or attacked for them. Any slight infraction on the rules above will immediately earn a warning and possibly a ban.
If you're violating instance rules, you'll typically be warned. Continuing poor behaviour after being warned will result in a ban or removal of your comments. Bans typically only last seven days, but repeat infractions will have longer sentences. You may ask to be unbanned.

They're not wrong. Not because of 'scary tankies' (lmao), but as soon as the piracy communities were banned, with no specific piracy concerns to blame, it was clear .world was to be heavily censored moving forward. And I totally understand and empathise with their reasons for doing it. It just doesn't matter to me as a user - you either provide a platform for all the content I want, or you don't.
Tbh they've recently unbanned the dbzer0 piracy community.
That's cool of them. The admin/mod team there are cool and putting myself in their shoes, I can't say I'd make different decisions. Personally I still want generally unfiltered discourse. It makes it more interesting, and I'm comfortable with my ability to distinguish between discourse that is or isn't constructive.
