I haven't sold anything online for years, but back when I'd try to sell something on Craigslist this was exactly the kind of thing I would get.
And if it wasn't them, it was the serial hagglers.
I could be selling a brand new porche for $1 and I'd get someone trying to negotiate down to $0.90
One dude agreed to buy something, then told me I had to drive 2 hours to sell it to him because he was 4 hours away. It was a $50 item
Edit: it was weird that about half the time when someone would agree to buy something they'd stop replying or just send back "don't need it" or something.
Imma put this here
"You are fat and ugly anyway, it's not like I would've even wanted to date you!!!"
Right? FWIW I ended up giving it to my parents for free lol
Oh man, exactly!
My best story and I think it's long lost to time is I tried to transfer a lease on a car. Had some dude tell me he would pay the lease but I could keep the car under my name and insurance. No amount of back and forth was explaining to him why that was utterly insane for me to do.
"purchase this product" heh.
I sold a treadmill online - the woman gave me the money, then started ignoring me. It took her 3 weeks to come pick it up.
Next time, just sell it again.
My work sells a lot of stuff on FB marketplace and it's so infuriating . 80% of messages are bots and just spam you to get your phone or location. Another 10% are just people frankly as dumb as bricks. You can have in caps "NO TRADES" in the listings title and description and still get offered tons of playstations and xboxs (I dont know why it's these two 80% of the time if they want to trade). Another 5% are super low ballers and a huge pain in the ass.
Another 3% or try to guilt trip you into a lower price. I've had people say they are on vacation and need to pick it up that day and 50% off else they can't get it, which I don't know how that's supposed to convince me because it's not my problem. Sometimes it's moms trying to get something for their kids and say how sad and upset their children will be.
Oh and another category of people you will encounter all the time are people that go "I want half off, cash right now, I'll arrive today" and they NEVER show up. And finally the 1% of replies are normal people that will actually buy something
I would assume a lot of these game consoles are stolen and they are looking for a way to whitewash their income.
