Nintendo recently announced they will be shutting down online services for the 3ds. Is this going to affect homebrew? (lemmy.sdf.org)

Sorry if it's a common question I can't afford a 3ds right now but I want to have one in the future.

I saw someone ask about this the other day. There's some work on a project called Pretendo that's designed to work as an open source replacement for the 3DS and Wii U online services. It's not fully up and running yet but you can see where they're currently at on the site.
