Weird take. When was the last time you came across a dog that had been bitten by a snake? This is just a heartwarming story, and your takeaway is that most people suck? Most people don't find themselves in this situation

Not specifically this situation, across the whole world I'm sure more good happens so why isn't any of that shared?

Easier to get a strong visceral reaction from people from negative events than positive ones when you don't know anyone involved. And negative events stay with people a lot longer emotionally, so it makes for a nice method to get attention.
