A large part of the problem is that many don't want help. Taking antipsychotics sucks in a huge way, as well as quitting most hard drugs. (these demographics account for ~80% of the chronically homeless)
Universal Healthcare won't change much since you currently can't force someone to take their meds or quit drugs.
Chronic homelessness is a problem that won't be solved by throwing more housing or money at it. It's a super nuanced problem that requires changes at a societal level to address (which won't happen)
A lot of people seem to think the majority of homeless are those who are just down on their luck, but that's just not true.
Having a stable home would already make it so much easier to quit drugs and improve their mental health. In addition, saying otherwise is the same as saying they don't deserve a place to live because they have mental health issues/are addicted/whatever. That sucks. Everyone should have a home.
And this is assuming that people get addicted first and then become homeless, and not the other way around.
You have already been proved wrong on these lies.
Stop spreading disinformation.
"It's more complex than saying a single thing causes homelessness" does NOT mean "that single thing plays no part in causing homelessness" Jesus learn some critical thinking skills
Take your own advice.
"a large part of the problem'" does not mean "the whole problem"
Saying "a large part" is just weasling out of the fact that you want to say "all", but realise you don't have the evidence.
Stop putting words in my mouth.
Stop making your mouth the right shape for them.
That doesn't even make any sense. Because you, in your wisdom, have decided that I am the kind of person who must believe [x], you are going the believe that I, personally, individually, do in fact believe [x], despite my explicit words saying I don't believe [x].
Alternative facts have taken hold of this fucking generation.
Your explicit words have not demonstrated you don't believe x. Your explicit words express a view very, very close to x. A view that seems, to me, carefully presented.
That's not how reality works.
I didn't say anything about how reality works. If there's something I said that violates fundamental laws of physics, please, explain, instead of simply asserting I did so.
Or, better yet, let's get back on topic.
There is no topic. You claimed I said a thing. I said no. You said "yeah but you were thinking it". I said no. You said "I reject your reality". So here we are. Nothing further to discuss, except perhaps how ridiculous your approach to dealing with the world is.
You've said most homeless people don't want a home. This is demonstrably untrue, and blames them for their own suffering.
