I’m much more broke than she is and far less marketable. She didn’t need to do that.
Seriously, using that logic you can justify anything. There are gradations of "poor" and we all sell a little bit of ourselves to make money but just going all out to shill for oil companies in the midst of a serious climate crisis is beyond the pale.
Kari is less a poor exploited worker and more of an eager grifter. I wonder how much of this Kari really believes. Do we sympathize with every hack trying to sell a book or radio show?
