No. Skipping the history of other continents is not the same thing.

I’d argue that world history is more informational and important to make civic decisions, especially in an imperialist world power like the states, than simply localized history. It just seems highly propagandized, and ignores almost entirely the global impact of the actions your country takes.

Cool. There is limited time for these lessons. Choices must be made. That doesn't mean washing the history.

Are you arguing for the meme or against?

Are just looking to throw your opinion as to how we should be doing? (hint: that makes you a different random audience member)

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I agree with this comic. Maybe I don’t understand what you were trying to say originally. It seemed to me that you were saying that it was okay to skip the history of other continents to teach only localized history.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I am responding to someone else.

I am not trying to originally say anything.

You trying to dismantle my response to that comment is a round about way of agreeing with the comment I am responding to.

Read the bottom of the meme. People writing text books have to make choices. Thinking you know better than a subject matter expert makes you the person the meme is complaining about.

I think I have better intentions than the American propagandists that make the curriculums. I don’t think “telling weird lies about the founding fathers to make them sound awesome” is a necessity, and I question the ability and motives of anyone who makes that part of the curriculum. I didn’t realize this was gonna be a controversial take.

[–] [email protected] -4 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Do you have any examples of history books that aren't "American propagandists" creating curriculums?

Not covering the history of Sudan in an American elementary school textbook is not a propagandizing.

Choices must be made.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I gave you an example of exactly what I was talking about man.

[–] [email protected] -3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I asked for an example that wasn't propaganda.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I don’t understand what you mean. You want an example of a history book that isn’t propaganda? Wtf if your goal here? Pick any history book that just tells history. What a stupid question lol

You want an example of an American history book that’s taught in schools that ISN’T American propaganda? First of all, I’m not American. Second of all, it’s a ridiculous ask for someone online to look through curriculum textbooks and find one example of one that isn’t propagandized for you so you can make a point. Like, it’s such a silly ass request that I almost didn’t bother responding to you.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I want you to realize you're just another audience member in the meme.

Leave the context of the history text book to the subject matter experts.

This notion that they need our input is moronic.

It started with people wanting to inject propaganda and it's stuck in a cycle of non-subject matter experts arguing over what is the proper level of propaganda without understanding that's what is being asked.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

THE PROPER LEVEL IS ZERO YOU SAUSAGE

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Critical thinking is not your thing. Zero is not possible.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Thinking in general doesn’t seem to be your thing bud.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Strawman. No one said Sudan.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

People generally go through at least 13 years of school. How is that not enough time to teach a world history class?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Downvoting to push your narrative is childish.

History is too vast to satisfy all those of history knowledge.

People go through grad and phd programs and are only able to become experts in narrow times and regions of history.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's not a narrative. I literally know zero things about the continent of Africa. I think they could spare some time within that 13 years of education to cover it.

p.s. they're imaginary internet points dude...

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Imaginary points is why it's childish to use downvotes to show disagreement.

Your continued lack of knowledge on Africa is now your choice.

I don't know what shit education you have that skipped all of Egypt.

Your lack of education is why you opinion in this irrelevant.

You think a topic you know nothing about could have been included, it's hilarious ignorant and you're arguing it against my knowledge.

You will continue to be ignorant if you cannot listen to those who are more educated.

It seems you cannot even recognize that this is the case here.

I see why the intellectuals didn't come here after the Reddit shutdown. The overwhelming ignorance of this place is nothing like the early days of Reddit discourse.

You will continue to be ignorant if you cannot listen to those who are more educated.

You have several people disagreeing with you

I see why the intellectuals didn't come here after the Reddit shutdown

I have an aerospace engineering degree. But I guess that doesn't count as intellectual. Thanks for asking.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

What evidence do you have other than ungrounded confidence that there is not enough time to teach such things? You are being waaay aggressive at just asserting a thinly veiled opinion without much backing argument and facts. How about a discussion before you decide to act like some authority figure.
