It was tense yes. But it was tense because everybody was waiting for others to make a move or a mistake(nobody was proactively trying to do anything). By that logic Monaco every year is similarly tense because people are often running nose to tail and hence Monaco should also be considered as good races.
Yeah. This year's Monaco was a banger, like so many before it.
There have been like 3-4 good Monaco races in the past 15 years. Out of the three-four good ones, 3 were good because of rain/variable weather. Occasionally it could be a good tactical battle revolving around the pitstops(see Monaco 2022 and 2023) but overtaking is too hard now to have excitement in dry conditions
I agree overtaking's too hard. But motorsport can be plenty exciting without overtaking.
I agree. But the has to be some avenue for possible changes to the racing order. Can't undercut in races like Singapore or Monaco because tyres take longer to get into the window and because the field is bunched as everyone is going artificially slow. Can't overcut these days because everybody is going slow and saving tyres.
Take Monza for example. It is hard to overtake there as well because of the reduced effects of drs and slipstream but the race is never boring because drivers are making a genuine attempt to overtake and all the off track tactics like overcut, undercut are also viable.
