You might try these communities instead: https://feddit.de/c/deutsch_lernen https://lemmy.world/c/german . From what I understand this one is more for English language news and discussion about the country, Germany.
Edit: Just saw that a mod further down said they don't want to necessarily separate discussion about the country Germany and the language German all that much as long as the community is small, so for now you will probably be fine asking here as well if the language-centric communities above are less active.
I promise not to post the near-daily complaint about having to learn gendered pronouns. :-|
