I think this really goes to show how your opinions of reality are reflected by the social circles you limit yourself to, but...

There’s been a lot of chatter lately about the Problem With Men.

I haven't heard ANY chatter about men's problems. Like, anywhere except the alt-right redpill space (which just use the issues as a way to draw in angry young men, without suggesting any real solutions) and a couple of subreddits.

I do hear a little about the "Problem With Men" - ie, why women are struggling, and that is men's fault, and also men are struggling, and that is also men's fault. Essentially, victim-blaming mixed with a healthy dose of "who cares if men are having problems anyway?"

But the VAST majority of articles, discussions, news stories, podcasts, everything that I hear about societal and gender issues are about the struggles women face. It's wild to me that someone could somehow find themselves in an informational bubble where they hear far more about men's struggles than women's struggles.

When I spoke to Potts earlier this week, she said part of her motivation for writing the book was that the conversation about who is struggling in America had been very focused on men.

Just...what? Really? That is SO DIFFERENT than the media I've been consuming. Wild.
