Per the article, most actually do care enough for it to matter politically if they vote
Why would they vote? Voting doesn't change anything.
Who holds power makes a very real difference:
And that's without including regulatory changes, such as the fuel ecomony rules designed to shift transportation off fossil fuels or power plant regulations designed to get them off fossil fuels too
In the United States, one party tries very hard to suppress voters. The other party tries very hard to get out the vote and stop voter suppression.
And yet, whichever party is in power, their environmental policy is set by oil industry lobbyists and everything keeps getting worse.
If all paths lead to the same bad destination, why walk down any of them?
If you tell young people that voting matters, you're telling them to ignore the evidence of history and their own eyes.
The Democrats didn't hold a supermajority needed to pass anything other than a budget-related bill. They had 50/100 seats in the Senate, not the 60 needed to break a filibuster. We got a lot anyways
There is so much more to vote for than your two party presidential race. Get real.
If you believe politicans will save the day, then no that is not going to happen. However politicans in terms of climate change range from denying it completly over says its real, but does not do anything about it, to might actually do something, but it is way too little. The real progress will be made on the ground. However that becomes a lot easier, if you do not have to fight politics as well or even get a bit of help.
Oh and referendums are amazing. California gets a hsr right now, due to that for example.
