Ergonomic, split and other weird keyboards

Rules

Keep it ergo

Posts must be of/about keyboards that have a clear delineation between the left and right halves of the keyboard, column stagger, or both. This includes one-handed (one half doesn't exist, what clearer delineation is that!?)

i.e. no regular non-split¹ row-stagger and no non-split¹ ortholinear²

¹ split meaning a separation of the halves, whether fixed in place or entirely separate, both are fine.
² ortholinear meaning keys layed out in a grid

I use additional trackball as build one is not working correctly yet and I have no time to fix it(.

I love my Dactyl Manuform - Been using it for a few years now and loved every moment of it.

Been planning to print+build a second one with the trackball built-in, but I can't find a generator that includes all the options I want, and I have yet to take the time to comprehend openscad. I have bought the parts I would need for it though, so I can eventually make it happen.

Five columns eh. What do your thumb keys do? Are you using home row mods?

[–] Hexarei 1 points 1 year ago

My left thumb keys are

[Super], [Space]
         [layer 2], [Alt]
          [end], [home]

and right are

         [backspace], [enter]
[Alt], [Ctrl]
[pgup], [pgdn]

Not sure what you mean by home row mods tho

This looks really cool. Are there any guides that you found helpful?

I leaned heavily on this build guide for references: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxNKWNKBLMs

And then made my own changes from there. It's worth noting that the Dactyl Manuform is designed to be built for your own hand measurements, so you may want to avoid just using one that someone else created (like CMD's).
