I had a look at the LW version, it's even worse.

Are themers all busy being back to school?

Tbh I’d not be surprised if that’s the case. Last time I had enough time to spare to rice me some arches was all the way back when I was in uni :(

I barely have enough time to hotfix my dotfiles nowadays :/

Same actually, that could really be it.

Nowadays I'm just happy to use even a desktop environment, while I would only consider windows manager (e.g. i3) back in the days

Not sure if directly relevant, but there's been a rush of really good PC games lately after a long dry spell.
