Welcome to today’s daily kōrero!

Anyone can make the thread, first in first served. If you are here on a day and there’s no daily thread, feel free to create it!

Anyway, it’s just a chance to talk about your day, what you have planned, what you have done, etc.

So, how’s it going?

I think you meant AoE 4? :)

You're right, I did. I thought we must have been up to 5 by now, but apparently not.

If you haven’t played AoE 2 recently, you’re in for a treat. I’d highly recommend checking it out, as it’s had a lot of developments and a lot of love from both the devs and the community, so it plays well even on modern PCs with wide-screen monitors. It’s a much more enjoyable game, without any of the annoyances of of 4.

I've played a bit of the one now listed as AoE 2 (2013). It looks like there's an even newer version, it it worth getting over the 2013 version?

0 A.D.

Yeah I've played this a bit but I suck at it lol

Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds

I can't believe I haven't heard of it before! And it's only a couple of bucks on GOG! I think I'll get this one instead.

I'm most likely going to be playing on a linux laptop, if AOE4 struggles on good hardware there's no way it will run ok on linux with no GPU. And it sounds like a buggy mess so I've avoid it until it's cheaper.

Thanks for all the info!

Yep, the 2013 one is the (OG) HD edition. The even newer version (DE) is worth checking out too, if you're interested some of the QoL stuff (better graphics with 4K support, better AI, auto farm reseeding, multi-queue production, being able to zoom in, better pathfinding etc), and of course the new civilisations and campaigns.

The DE version gets a lot more frequent and regular updates, and is the most active/popular version of the game in the entire series.

Sweet, I'll put it on my wish list. For now, I'll get Galactic Battlegrounds set up!
