No. The cure to male loneliness is PC LAN parties where everyone hauls their giant-ass desktop towers to the school computer lab/similar space for Day of Defeat and Counter-Strike.
If we dont play at least one match of Age of Empires 2 Im not coming!
So good. I think we also did Warcraft or Warcraft 2. I would personally add Unreal Tournament to the list.
I'm in for wc2 but only after fiddling for 45minutes with a single lan cable to direct connect our 2 (heavy!) pc's without a lan nor internet! (if i hear the word wifi i will turn my head sideways in confusion).
Did you need a crossover cable for that back then? I think later on the NICs could figure that out themselves.
Fiddling with network settings to get it to work is literally why I remember Warcraft.
Where the first two hours are trying to get the network stable.
Yes, the "this sucks, we'll never get it working" period made the, "Holy shit, it's working, we're all on the same map!" period that much sweeter.
