MODERATORS

Reddit does greedy API change

A ton of subreddits decide to do protests

r/196 moderator's do poll to determine the length of their protest

Only 2 options are "2 days" and Forever

Poll gets flooded by bigots wanting to shut the sub down forever

Mods look at poll and decide to kill the sub

They make off-site migration post which split's the sub into several smaller community's

There are ~600 comments on the post begging the mods this is a horrible idea and not to kill the sub

Mod "addresses" the controversy without actually addressing or responding to it

Comments are auto-removed so nobody can respond to them

mfw destroying the most successful non-bigoted meme sub does more harm to gay people then reddit

Thanks for the pride month gift, 196 mods!

As much as I get the idea, a strike with an end date is ridiculous and makes no difference whatsoever. The reddit CEO even said that he was just going to wait it out, showing how 2 days is nothing. And changing it to forever does seem to have had a real impact, because now they are actually trying to force subs open. However, yes, the mods really should have endorsed one place and gone with it I completely agree, which could have kept the community alive while still not being on reddit in protest
