i just feel so foreign still, then again, everyone does, but it's hard to find the will to interact when you feel foreign, ykwim? like being a stranger at a party, it's all fun and all but it feels pretty hard to just approach a random group of ppl and be like "henlo guys my name is johnathan and i'm here to show u my cat", lmao, but yeah you're right we gotta push it a little bit. no other way to start than by starting.
Hello stranger! How is your cat doing?
Sadly my cat was left in Venezuela when I moved to Spain and my brother wants to bring them here but it's expensive, like $2-3k per cat. Permits, tickets, vaccines, chips and other stuff. My cat budget is not that big even if I find them to be super cute.
Sorry to hear that ☹️
I too stand at the wall nursing my drink and waiting for someone near me to have a loud conversation I can contribute to
Lol. I used to be like that. I've learned to just approach the first person I see and strike a conversation. If I don't like them I go to the next one and then the next one. We got one life, everyone is as foreign, and so many people are glad to be talked to. We don't think it be like it is but it do.
Isn't that the point of the whole communities structure though? That you have some common topic to talk about, rather than just exchanging small-talk?
For me, the people I'd talk to on Reddit were mostly internet strangers anyway, so my mindset is that this place is no different :) Different website, but still just fellow human beings at the end of the day.
Sure. The problem I have is not that. But part of that yes. I don't have my kdramas subreddit here or my Xianxia sub to talk shit about Chinese fantasy martial arts novels. I don't think the niches will reach here any time soon. I only have the big subs I never participated in anyway to talk about meta stuff, photos, videos, news and normie memes. It's okay though. I always find something interesting to browse and comment on. It's more of a difficulty than an impossibility.
That's the neat thing though - everyone here are strangers - it's all new to most of us! It's easy to feel that way after spending so much time on reddit where everything is taken so seriously, but share your cat! The internet always needs more cat pictures!
