McDonald’s on Thursday reported mixed quarterly results as its U.S. same-store sales fell for the second straight quarter, posting their largest domestic decline since the onset of the Covid pandemic.

McDonald’s U.S. same-store sales shrank 3.6% as the chain faced bad weather and a more cautious consumer. That drop is the worst in McDonald’s home market since the 8.7% plunge during the second quarter of 2020, when states imposed lockdowns to slow the spread of Covid.

Analysts surveyed by StreetAccount were expecting the company to report domestic same-store sales declines of 1.7% for the first quarter.

If it wasn't for my kids begging for McDs. I would never go there, maybe for breakfast rarely. But fuck that place man. It's the same trash for decades.

I think breakfast is the best thing going for Macdonalds. I just stopped there and it was $12 for a meal. It's barely above dog food and they want to charge $12....

The same trash, but now in smaller portion sizes for more money! Great, eh!

The ones around me barely even employ any front-facing staff, so they also aren't providing as many jobs to the local economy. And their seating is uncomfortable. All around just a horrible, overpriced experience for shite food.

I'm in the same boat as you: I only go there once a year for a school fund-raiser because my kids really want to. There's not even anything I find appealing to eat there, so I don't usually get anything.

What would you say if your kids begged you to buy them cigarettes?

Tell them no of course lmao. I'll get them McDs maybe once or twice a month. They usually get one day out of the month to go to McDs. Maybe another if they did something good at school or around the house.

Cutting out something completely isn't the best practice, because when they finally do get freedom of choice. They over indulge. Same thing I do with soda. They'll get a 12 pack a month of their favorite but that's it.

Once or twice a month(!) is way too often to act like it's not already an overindulgence. You're either not aware of how harmful fast-food really is in 2025 or don't know how to say no, but Christ, you're already giving your kids that "Freedom of choice."

Lmao. Alright my guy. Keep doing you.

Those warnings are everywhere in California.

Also, just about any fish you eat has mercury in it. That's just eating fish.

All that said, McDonald's food is shit.

I used to eat their breakfast and that likely has real eggs and stuff, but even when I ate it, it was often burnt or crappy in some way and certainly not worth the price.

Right? I do NOT understand the mentality of the kids running the show... Do people not know how to use the word no anymore ?
