He literally gave gay men and lesbians a platform to talk about being gay and lesbian without treating them like they were space aliens.

As a bisexual teen growing up with little access to any information on what it was like to grow up gay Stern’s show could be incredibly educational simply because he gave a mic to people who you normally would never hear from. I treasured him for this as did many if my peers.

I can only assume the lede you buried in "many of my peers" was that it didn't include a lot of the women.

No, it did because again Stern’s show was one if the only places where you could hear lesbians talk about being lesbians IRL. No one else did this without making them a spectacle so we appreciated that where we could get it.
