if you're so unhappy with the creators of this entire platform, why are you here at all? i joined a short while ago and started posting about dota in the largest dota group i could find, only to find out later that you've been reposting my stuff?
you can read my comment history and decide if i'm a tankie i guess, but i doubt you're willing to do that since you clearly started reposting my threads without doing that.
Lemmy is an open source link aggregator type social media server software, there is nothing political about it or its code. Individual instances of it and how they are run are what can be politically good/bad/neutral. You don't see me with a .ml account. Nor will I ever give them money directly, I'll just donate money to individual instances to their running costs.
First, cross-posting is a built-in core feature of Lemmy, second I don't cross-post on a user basis, as a small part of my boycotting efforts of the .ml instance admins behavior, I cross post from a .ml comm to the closest relevant non-.ml comm. I get a notification of a new post on a .ml comm and I cross-post it away, I don't do user profile scrubs before doing so, I already know who the "major players" are.
you're explicitly not crossposting, as you literally wrote above.
lemmy is still their baby. you are still completely and entirely playing the game on their terms. why would you not prefer to use a whole other social media platform at this point?
if i can find stuff on different lemmy using the same account and comment there as well, for many purposes it's the same website.
ALL you're doing is growing the crowd for the people you hate, mr superuser. no matter how you paint it.
your energy is so much better used on another platform at this point dude and keep letting lemmy shit itself and be ran into the ground by the tankies. just tell me where you go because there's not much conversation on this website at all.
And they openly choose to give it away so anyone could use it how they see fit. And indeed, if they kept lemmy.ml truly unbiased as the "Flagship" they position it to be and ran a separate instance that didnt use that status to push harmful propaganda and misinformation, we wouldn't be having this conversation.
Instances would have defeded from it like the rest of the triad and moved on. It's the fact that they use this position to basically bully other instances to staying federated with them, so that they can continue spreading their crap, that drives what I do.
You do not have an understanding of how the Lemmy-verse or even Fediverse at large operates, what you said is fundamentally untrue and is the opposite of the entire point of the underlying ActivityPub protocol.
There is no "one platform" or "one website" the entire reason ActivityPub came to be was so that social media would be decentralized for once. I could jump to another platform as you say, there are a few Lemmy alternatives like PieFed. However, because everything is federated, the Tankie problem is still there, still causing damage and still threatening the overall health.
Besides, it's not 2021 anymore, the number of instances on the Lemmy-verse far outweigh the tankie-aligned instances (in fact, I can't think of a single one outside the Tankie Triad), they're just a very loud minority. Unfortunately, the very loud part is what's the most damaging.
