Welcome to the Unpopular Opinion community!

How voting works:

Vote the opposite of the norm.

If you agree that the opinion is unpopular give it an arrow up. If it's something that's widely accepted, give it an arrow down.

Guidelines:

Tag your post, if possible (not required)

  • If your post is a "General" unpopular opinion, start the subject with [GENERAL].
  • If it is a Lemmy-specific unpopular opinion, start it with [LEMMY].

Rules:

1. NO POLITICS

Politics is everywhere. Let's make this about [general] and [lemmy] - specific topics, and keep politics out of it.

2. Be civil.

Disagreements happen, but that doesn’t provide the right to personally attack others. No racism/sexism/bigotry.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Shitposts and memes are allowed but...

Only until they prove to be a problem. They can and will be removed at moderator discretion.

5. No trolling.

This shouldn't need an explanation. If your post or comment is made just to get a rise with no real value, it will be removed. You do this too often, you will get a vacation to touch grass, away from this community for 1 or more days. Repeat offenses will result in a perma-ban.

Instance-wide rules always apply. https://legal.lemmy.world/tos/

I like being a cuckold and I don't understand the hate it gets.

  • It gets me off.
  • It gets my girlfriend off.
  • It makes it easier for other guys to get laid.
  • My girlfriend and I have more sex before and after a meetup because we're both into it.
  • It doesn't do anything detrimental to my self-esteem because I understand my self-worth isn't tied to monogamous sex - plus if it did, my girlfriend and I could stop any time.

Everyone should be able to do what they want to do so long as they follow the basic concepts of enthusiastic consent. And when people follow that, I don't understand the hate

Part of it I think it's that you're describing what the general population would call swinging or hotwifing. Cuckolding has an implied humiliation/non-consensual connotation in the public mind so that's why it's seen as derogatory. A cuck isn't having fun, or might not even know it's happening.

Husband is on-board and good communication? Not a cuck

Husband is seen as weak/humiliated, wife unilaterally controls it? Cuck

Whether these definitions are "correct" or not, that's the public perception

I think being a cuck doesn't mean not being on board, being a cuck usually means being a submissive part of the situation. It's just used as a derogatory for being whipped but obviously being a sub in a relationship doesn't mean your relationship is fake.

As an example, someone pressured into opening there relationship isn't really a cuck. They are just whipped in an unhealthy relationship.
