A nice place to discuss rumors, happenings, innovations, and challenges in the technology sphere. We also welcome discussions on the intersections of technology and society. If it’s technological news or discussion of technology, it probably belongs here.

Remember the overriding ethos on Beehaw: Be(e) Nice. Each user you encounter here is a person, and should be treated with kindness (even if they’re wrong, or use a Linux distro you don’t like). Personal attacks will not be tolerated.

Huffman said in an interview that he plans to institute rules changes that would allow Reddit users to vote out moderators who have overseen the protest, comparing them to a “landed gentry.”

Okay so, nuance, this should've been allowed way before this. Too many mods don't reflect the opinions of the communities they moderate. It should be somewhat of an elected position as opposed to the BDFL approach. (Benevolent dictator for life.)

Agreed on the fact that mods are kind of appointed for life, but that’s a problem Reddit could’ve fixed years ago if they were so worried about all the free labor and content they’ve been getting.

This action we’re witnessing now is a money grab pure and simple.
