Playing Sword's DLC, when I get Violet, I want to trade over some Pokemon that know egg moves. Level 1 of course, to keep it fair.

Any suggestions?

So far I have Delibird with Ice Shard, Happiny with Present, but not sure who else to shoot for.. or if Happiny is even in the Violet Pokedex

There is no need to do egg moves because moves will be reset when the Pokemon is transferred to S/V. Though learning egg moves is easy in S/V (just need to hold an item and picnic together and it is instant. No need to breed or come from the same egg group.), so don’t worry about that.

Have you decided what starter you are going to choose for Violet? Maybe a Pokemon that covers your starter’s type weakness.

Why do the moves reset? Whose terrible idea was this?

I guess that’s just Game Freak’s way of dealing with Pokemon having different move pools in different games.

To put in more detail, basically Pokemon Home keeps track of a Pokemon’s move set for each game. When a Pokemon is transferred to a game it has never been to, it will get some default moves (last 4 level-up moves?) and Home also let you relearn level-up moves during the transfer. If a Pokemon is transferred to a game it has previously been to, its move set will automatically switch to the move set it had before leaving that game.

It kind of make sense if they want to control learnable moves in each game and eliminate moves only obtainable through other games. The real sad thing is old gen’s distribution/gift Pokemon will lose their unique moves forever, because Bank to Home is a one-way transfer.
