star my asshole. it was the skipper to reddits golden age. like barbies younger sister it was never as popular and a complete clone to grab the kids who rejected reddit
reddit was just another pligg/elgg (open source link aggregator/social media cms at that time) clone trying to eat into the diggs market. and yes, reddit was open source too.
But unlike the fragmented open source alternatives, reddit had a marketing budget and lured in most of the users.
That’s just factually untrue. It began as a much more popular site, but hemorrhaged users (who mainly went to Reddit) after an extremely unpopular site redesign.
Exactly. Reddit surge was because of the pre-death of Digg. Kinda what Reddit is experiencing itself now
Since I started on Digg years ago, I'm interested to see what the Digg Reboot will be.
