What do you plan to make with them? My experience with ghost peppers was that they were so hot it was hard to use them in anything. And I like really spicy food.
My wife and I are both big chile heads, so ghosts are just perfect for us. I grew reapers one year and those were too much, even for us.
I'm kind of thinking about making a banana based fermented hot sauce with them! I'm also going to freeze any extra to use in dishes.
You should consider making some chili oil! Just place a chopped pepper into a bottle of a neutral oil for cooking. It should last for at least 6 months
Good idea!
Is it feasible to cross pollinate them with a less spicy pepper? I love the taste of ghost peppers but they're often too much on their own lol
Same. We have some sambal oelek made with California Reaper (or a hybrid thereof, vendor didn't know) and it's so hot that we dose it with the tip of a knife. Any more and the whole pot is ruined.
Reapers are crazy. I can't believe how hot they are. Ghosts are just about perfect for us, though!
you could make a chili sauce and put just a tiny bit in food to make it spicy enough
